Reading Group

The Reading Group is continuing its successful monthly meetings with five regular attendees.  New members would be warmly welcomed.  All the books generate great discussions with strong opinions expressed by the members.

After circulating the possibility of a change in time and day of our meetings it was decided to leave the date and time as it is at present; the first Thursday of the month at 7 pm. The Booker prize group issued their 10 best author list of their 40 years so it was agreed that we look at some of the early winners, starting with Midnight's Children. Salman Rushdie. We will also look at some winners from the 10 year Virago list. Details will be finalized at our September meeting. Everyone is welcome to all or some of the meetings.

The planned reading for the next five months is as follows:

October        A Far Cry from Kensington by Muriel Spark

November    The Island by Victoria Hislop

December     The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter

January          Sour Sweet by Timothy Mo

February        Something to Answer for by P H Newby
